Marbella’s growing investment in wellness and longevity tourism
The Costa del Sol is entering a new era of wellness and longevity tourism, driven by two landmark developments that place the region at the forefront of European health and lifestyle innovation. The comprehensive redevelopment of Marbella’s historic Hotel Incosol and the creation of the new Lanserhof Finca Cortesin in Casares represent a combined investment of more than €180 million, setting new standards in medical hospitality and sustainable luxury.
Hotel Incosol – a new chapter for an icon
The revival of the legendary Hotel Incosol marks one of Marbella’s most anticipated returns. Once among Europe’s most celebrated wellness hotels, Incosol was renowned for its medical spa and pioneering approach to preventive health. The recently approved redevelopment by Marbella City Council will bring this legacy into the 21st century through a complete transformation of the site.
Occupying a 47,500 m2 plot in the Río Real area, the new Incosol will feature 34,000 m2 of landscaped gardens, pools and outdoor relaxation zones, alongside 21,000 m2 of wellness and medical facilities. Around 80% of its 168 rooms will be connected to personalised health and longevity programmes, combining advanced diagnostics, regenerative therapies and nutrition-based treatments. The €87.4 million project will deliver a five-star resort dedicated to holistic wellbeing, medical excellence and the pursuit of longer, healthier living.
For Marbella, Incosol’s return holds both symbolic and economic weight. It reinforces the city’s commitment to sustainable, high-quality tourism and confirms its position as a European leader in health-focused hospitality.
Lanserhof Finca Cortesin – the science of wellbeing
In Casares, just along the coast, another project is redefining the intersection of medicine and hospitality. Lanserhof Finca Cortesin, developed by AltamarCAM Partners and King Street Capital Management, will be the Lanserhof Group’s first wellness retreat in southern Europe. The €95 million investment extends across 23,500 m² within the renowned Finca Cortesin resort, with construction already underway.
The project will include 71 suites, diagnostic and treatment facilities, along with dedicated areas for movement, nutrition and mental health. Designed with the precision and minimalism for which Lanserhof is known, the clinic will combine cutting-edge preventive medicine with the comfort and privacy of a five-star environment. Its arrival reflects the growing international demand for destinations that support long-term health while delivering world-class hospitality.
Together, the Incosol and Lanserhof Finca Cortesin developments signal a decisive evolution in the region’s tourism model. They mark the Costa del Sol’s transition from a traditional leisure destination to a centre of excellence for longevity, wellness and scientific innovation.
A positive ripple effect for property and investment
These landmark projects are expected to generate a powerful ripple effect across the local economy. By attracting high-value tourism and employment, they will reinforce the prestige of both east Marbella and Casares while stimulating new demand for quality residential properties. For investors and buyers, the integration of wellness and luxury creates long-term appeal, with properties near these resorts likely to experience enhanced rental potential, stronger capital appreciation and greater lifestyle value.
